Sometimes a recipe just goes too far…
Such is the case with Cider Slow-Cooked Apples, from the kitchen of Jacquy Pfeiffer. Sounds delicious, doesn’t it?This recipe is a pastry chef’s dream – I could see making this for a small dinner party, but it serves TWELVE?!?! Two plus hours and two days making DESSERT for a party of that size… Let’s cheat a little
BUY apple juice – fresh and organic if you choose, but BUY it! You don’t have to make the apple chips – those are available, too. Or make them all by themselves for a sweet treat.
I was totally relieved when he said to use “prepared†puff pastry. Whew! Don’t get me wrong – this sounds and looks like an incredible dessert – and if you’re the one bringing that item to a gathering, by all means, go for it!
However, if you’re the host, budget your time very, very carefully.
