Real men don't eat quiche?!?
That is just, like, so eighties, dude... Who on earth doesn't like eggs and cheese? Bake them together in a convenient serving method, such as a flaky pie crust – get real!!!
The 'quiche du jour' is quite honestly based on my pantry and some leftovers. Caramelized onions and spinach, Swiss cheese – oh yeah, eggs as well Did I forget – OMG, I did... of COURSE there's bacon! You DO know who's posting this, right?
Looking for a guideline (more accurately, a good ratio for eggs:dairy:solids), I found this one, which seemed to matched my ingredients the best. The technique is interesting as well – most recipes recommend at least partially baking the crust ahead of time. THIS one says to simply rub softened butter over the crust before filling?
I opted for 'half and half' instead of heavy cream, and as most comments suggested reducing the eggs from 3 to 4, I went that route as well. Any little thing I can do to make something a touch more healthy... as long as it still tastes awesome?!
Oh, yeah - it does! Tip alert, guys – the layer of butter before filling left the crust just the correct amount of crisp and flaky – not the least bit soggy...
So let's recap – once baked, a quick grab for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack (served warm OR cold)... healthy veggies (vitamins C, A, E... fiber, anti-oxidants) 'snuck into' something with tons of deliciousness...
YEP - I think real men DO eat quiche!
